Alex's primary specialty is CranioSacral therapy; a light touch therapy that engages the natural healing ability of the body to clear imbalances resulting from stressors. In doing so, this therapy also alleviates pain and discomfort in the body.
Alex specializes in Pediatric CranioSacral and works with people of all ages. Alex has been in practice for over forteen years, and has had a great deal of advanced training. She integrates her skills in Therapeutic Massage, Lymph Drainage Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and Body Insight into sessions as needed. Alex's focus in her bodywork practice is the facilitation of the conscious connection and communication for an individual with the Inner Intelligence, our self-healing mechanism. Laura is a co-owner of Alchemy Healing Arts Center.
Amelia specializes in Lymph Drainage Therapy, and is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (LLCC) working with people facing health challenges such as Lyme Disease and auto-immune challenges, surgical recoveries, and lymphedema. Amelia also provides deeply restorative and nurturing Therapeutic Massage that heals and enhances health, relaxes sore muscles, and soothes the spirit. She has had a lot of success with frozen shoulders, neck and back pain, and with those who have ongoing health challenges. She is a Certified Fertility and Pre-Natal Massage Therapist, and has Oncology Massage training.
In addition, Amelia teaches continuing education classes, is the Vice President of the American Massage Therapy Association, Maryland Chapter and she guides The Manifesting Place workshop, as well as Healing From the Core and other specialty trainings. Amelia is a co-owner of Alchemy and she has been in practice for over ten years.
Lynne is a seasoned massage therapist and professor with over fifteen years of experience.
In addition to her private practice, Lynne has been a professor at the Anne Arundel Community College Therapeutic Massage program since 2001 and in 2012 she became the department's Program Coordinator. She is a highly experienced therapist who combines her training in Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Myofascial massage to create the session that is most therapeutic and supportive of her client's needs. Lynne has expanded her offerings to include Integrative Reflexology and Yoga.
Jackie is a New York native, former rugby player and yogi. She became a Yoga Teacher in 2010 and a Maryland Licensed Massage Therapist in 2013.
Jackie began her career in massage therapy with only a gut feeling and it’s been decision she’s never doubted. She specializes in Myofascial Release and deep tissue massage. She enjoys working with all the different bodies that have found their way to the table with her. Each body carries with it a different story, we have been shaped and influenced by the life we have lived. Our bodies often hold on to emotions and life’s experiences, therapeutic massage allows us a time and space to drop out of our heads and into our bodies. Body work can help us feel and connect rather than analyze and judge what is being expressed by our bodies.
David is currently a Midwife at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Women’s Health
Associates and a part-time CranioSacral Therapist with Alchemy Healing Arts Center.
While David anticipates that he will continue to catch babies for quite some time, he also has become
interested in the possibilities of CranioSacral Therapy. He began his studies with the Upledger Institute
in 2013 and joined Alchemy Healing Arts Center as an apprentice. David has completed sufficient training to
begin seeing private clients and you are invited to come and experience his touch and skill.
Shelby is currently on Sabbatical, she is taking family time for a new baby and new home. We expect she will be back to Alchemy with a limited schedule in early 2017.
Shelby is a second-generation massage therapist. She grew up learning and experiencing all the benefits of therapeutic massage from her mother, also a licensed massage therapist. This lifelong experience was a part of Shelby's inspiration to become a massage therapist.
Shelby is experienced in Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Hot Stone massage, as well as Reiki and integrates these skills into every session. She is a Certified Nurturing the Mother PreNatal and PostPartum massage therapist. Shelby's intent is that each client finishes their session with a sense of relief from pain and deep relaxation. Her goal is to facilitate an improved sense of wellness in her client's lives and especially within their bodies.
I was the beneficiary of a gifted day at Alchemy Healing Arts Center and it was possibly the best gift I've ever received. My experience was more than the usual 'spa day', it was a day where my treatment professionals listened to how ALL of me was feeling and they worked hard to attend to my needs. Yes, my body was ready for a massage and reflexology, however, that specific period in time was overwhelmingly sad and stress filled, yet through conversation in advance of my treatments, I felt confident that my sessions would focus on my emotional and spiritual healing as well. I left feeling well, in mind, body and spirit. I can't recommend this group of people or this environment enough. ~LW More Client Reviews

N.D. says: My pre-natal massage with Shelby was great! I loved her technique and care she took of a 9-month pregnant me. I also enjoyed my conversation with her about motherhood and all related challenges and joys. I liked my experience so much that I scheduled an appointment for my husband with Shelby for the same week, he experienced sever neck pain and needed string hands. He enjoyed it as well and asked me for "maintenance massages" at Alchemy Healing Arts Center. More Client Reviews

Our healthcare system in the United States is based on an illness/disease model that pays when people are sick. There are few programs that pay for, or reimburse for, wellness related holistic health care. Our staff are all licensed health care providers and we can always provide you with a fully coded insurance superbill. We have many clients who have received partial or full reimbursement. However, we do not accept insurance or submit claims. If you are interested in exploring insurance reimbursement, we suggest that you discuss it with your medical doctor so a prescription can be provided, and then discuss your diagnosis and prescription with your insurance company for clarification.
We ask you to consider what your health and wellbeing are worth to you? What does pain and disfunction cost you? Our clients are finding clear paths to their wellness through holistic health care with Alchemy Healing Arts Center. Yes, it costs money out of pocket, and we have hundreds of clients who have returned again and again, because this work is making a difference in their lives.
At your request, Alchemy will provide you with a fully coded superbill/receipt for services after your session. Please note that it is outside our scope of practice to provide a diagnosis, so if your insurance company requires a diagnosis for reimbursement, a prescription from your doctor may be needed.
"Receiving bodywork from Amelia Mitchell is much more than getting a massage. While I always leave feeling like warm, melted caramel and without a care in the world, those are just the 'superficial' benefits. On a deeper level, I know I have done something good for my body that will last well beyond the lovely afterglow effects." - MA, Annapolis More Client Reviews
