We are offering a variety of Zoom Alchemy Evenings during COVID times along with a number of classes.

Gender 101 - Insights, Answers, and Pronouns
Monday, November 9th at 7pm - Via Zoom - Registration Required
Join us, everyone is welcome to spend some time learning about Gender and Pronouns in an atmosphere that is welcoming and accepting. Amelia has taught this material as part of Cultural Diversity classes for many years and students have appreciated the opportunity to learn about the vocabulary used around gender, the LGBTQIA community, pronouns and more.

Alchemy owner, Amelia Mitchell, also known as Aunt Amelia, your queer, fat auntie is happy to share her knowledge and insights with you and help you move in a world that recognizes that the gender binary is simply a social construct that excludes instead of includes. Understanding pronoun use, as well as what to do if you make an error is important, and Amelia can guide you in this.

Join us for what is sure to be an interesting, gentle, and informative evening. This is a basic level class, thus 101, and may not provide much more information for those living in this world, feel free to suggest it to your mom though!

About Virtual Alchemy Evenings

Alchemy Evenings are informal evening presentations and an opportunity to have a conversation about a subject of interest.  Due to the current cornoavirus pandemic, we will be presenting Alchemy Evenings virtually. Alchemy Evenings are always free of charge.

Tea for Our Evenings
Generally, our friend Lynayn Mielke from The Well Infused Life and the East West Tea Emporium would choose and brew a special tea that will support and enhance the topic and experience of each Alchemy Evening. Now that we are going virtual, that won't work as well, we do however hope you will brew a cup of tea to enjoy during the presentation. Going forward, maybe we can work something out with Lynayn.

Please join us, and encourage interested friends and family to come also. Now there is no barrier of geography!

CONSCIOUS BREATHING: AN INTRODUCTION
with Kay Schaefer, PT
Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 7:00 pm
Conscious Breathing is a powerful tool for the body to rebalance and heal itself using the breath. CB brings an embodied awareness of the breath as it naturally occurs during movement and while sitting still. Noticing one’s natural breath in different parts of the body invites an open background for movement reeducation and healing.

Research shows that how you breathe effects the “3 M’s”, memory, mood and muscles.  For instance, the rhythm of breathing affects memory and fear.  Yogic breathing fights depression. Slow breathing induces tranquility.  Meditation and breathing exercises can sharpen your brain.  Nose breathing can harness memory and breathing exercises can reduce stress at the brain stem.

Kay Schaefer is a local physical therapist and a friend of Alchemy.  Kay has a superb understanding of the relationships between body, mind, and spirit. She brings sensitivity, compassion, and wisdom to of her sessions. We are pleased to introduce you to her workshop Conscious Breathing.
