LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST

Lorin Leake, LMT
As of the summer 2019, Lorin became an Alchemy Allumni as she moved on to a wonderful Social Work Fellowship.
A recent arrival to Annapolis, Lorin is a Maryland State Licensed Massage Therapist who has been in practice since 2014. Lorin specializes in therapeutic massage that is both deeply relaxing and rejuvenating while also incorporating deep tissue, trigger point, and myofascial release techniques to address any areas of pain or dysfunction.
A Nashville Tennessee native, Lorin graduated from the Advanced Therapeutic Massage program at Saint Paul College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She is a social work graduate student at Smith College with a local internship, and hopes to remain in the Annapolis after her graduation next year. During her graduate studies she has been a massage therapist in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, giving her more state licenses than any other Alchemy therapist, and more importantly, a good foundation of experience working with a variety of challenges. Lorin is a professional choral singer and she finds that she feels most centered when she is doing yoga, playing volleyball, or cuddling with her dog.
Lorin notes “I love providing full-body restorative massage that both addresses areas of pain and overuse while also creating an overall sense of rejuvenation and connection to oneself. As a graduate student in psychotherapy, I am passionate about the role massage plays in both physical and mental wellbeing. All too often we allow stress and anxiety to diminish our mind/body connection. Massage interrupts the cycle of stress and allows you to reconnect with a core sense of yourself and get centered in your body. I see massage as a radical act of self-care and a means of addressing all the ways that a person may feel out of balance both physically and emotionally.”
Sessions with Lorin are based on time, as are all our sessions, and she is available for 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours. During your Restorative and Therapeutic Massage session Lorin will incorporates the skills and techniques needed to give you exactly the massage you need that day.

"Every person has a story about their body and their relationship with pain or stress. The way I listen begins with this story and continues energetically and instinctually throughout a massage.
I connect with the places that hold tension, help release the anxieties and burdens that aren't serving a person any longer, and facilitate their ability to listen to their own bodies as well. "

"I particularly love working with clients who are working through some tough times emotionally and it's showing up in their bodies. People who are experiencing grief, transitions, anxiety, overwhelming stress or responsibility often hold these strong emotions in their bodies as well.
It is my great joy when emotional balance can be restored in tandem with physical balance, allowing a client to feel grounded, rooted, and connected to themselves while navigating whatever is coming up for them in life."
